Innovation Traineeship

Imagine this: in a greenhouse, somewhere in the world, fresh food is being produced and its production is being managed by AI from the Netherlands. Or: following delivery of a greenhouse, a digital monitor analyses remotely how this greenhouse is performing and how this can be improved. Sounds like the year 2053, but work is already being done on this now.

And you can be involved too!

Are you a recent graduate with a technical university degree or have you just started working for a company in the Food & Flower industry? Do you want to use your technical knowledge for a sustainable, healthy world and get involved in digitisation, robotics and other cool tech innovations in the sector? And still not entirely sure at what kind of company and in which position you want to do this? Then read more about our Innovation Traineeship.

What does this traineeship entail?

You are a recent graduate with a technical university degree. You don’t yet know exactly what your dream job is but want to contribute to a healthy, green world in which everyone has enough to eat. You want to make an impact with technical innovation combined with learning, developing and expanding your network. Without directly committing to one particular employer...

As Innovation Trainee you will spend two years working for three organisations, including TNO. Here, you will work on projects relating to data and hortitech. You will spend eight months at each company.

At the same time, along with other trainees, you will follow our Future Leadership Program, a management development program from HortiHeroes, focusing on your personal skills and expanding your network. Because our vision is that personal and professional development go hand in hand.

“I was immediately triggered by the HortiTech Innovation Traineeship. The chance to get to know the horticulture industry through three different companies was extremely appealing. And you get the opportunity to genuinely make a contribution to digitisation of the sector.”

What we offer you as a trainee:

“It’s not your ‘everyday job’. To me, the fact that you can play a role in a dynamic sector with different companies makes the traineeship something really exciting. Plus, you build up a large network and I like the fact that I get to choose again after 2 years. A traineeship such as this is ideal if you don’t yet know precisely what you want to do.”

Rick Gitzels - Innovation Trainee
